New Loan Applicants at Durham Tech

Previous Loan Recipients from Durham Tech

Students who have received a loan from Durham Tech and who wish to continue to receive a loan must reapply for each academic year. Students who have previously borrowed at Durham Technical Community College (only) may complete the Loan Authorization form online and then print and submit the signed form to the Financial Aid office, Phail Wynn, Jr. Student Services Center, room 10-210. The FAFSA must be completed and all follow-up paperwork submitted before the Financial Aid office can accept your loan request. Since you have previously received a loan from Durham Tech, a new eMPN, Entrance Counseling, or attending a Durham Tech Loan Workshop is not required.

New Loan Applicants

New loan applicants (Durham Technical Community College students who have never had a Direct Loan) are required to complete the following four steps to be considered for a student loan. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be completed before you can complete these steps.

Step 1: Complete Entrance Counseling

Complete the required Entrance Counseling online at the Federal Student Aid website.

Step 2: Complete your Electronic Master Promissory Note (eMPN)

Fill out your electronic eMPN online at the Federal Student Aid website.

Step 3: Attend a Loan Entrance Workshop at Durham Tech (Optional)

All new borrowers at Durham Tech are advised to attend a loan workshop; however, it is an option and not a requirement. Loan workshops are held throughout the academic term. Workshop times alternate between morning and afternoon sessions. Below are the dates, times, and locations:
