Getting help can be hard. The Counseling and Student Development department is here to help. We’re committed to student success and our counselors realize pressure and difficulties affect academic performance. Our staff members are available to meet with students individually to discuss a wide range of personal concerns. Counselors provide encouragement and support in a non-judgmental environment, intervene in times of crisis, help students identify and resolve personal issues, and make referrals when necessary.
Counselors help students explore the best options available for academic and personal success. Our counseling office utilizes a short-term model and counseling services are goal focused. Staff members also have information on available community resources for students who need long-term therapeutic services.
For more information or to speak with a counselor, please call 919-536-7207, ext. 1413 to set up an appointment or stop by the Counseling and Student Life office in the Wynn Center, room 10-209. Walk-in services also are available.
For help after hours, students should leave a message and a counselor will return the call the next day. For emergency help, contact Durham Tech's Campus Police and Public Safety at 919-537-7207, ext. 5555 or call the Durham City Police at 911.
